چکیده

Innuence Diagrams (ids) are a graphic formalism able to provide a compact representation of decision problems. ids are based on the axioms of probability and decision theory, and they deene a normative framework to model decision making. Unfortunately, ids require a large amount of information that is not always available to the decision maker. This paper introduces a new class of ids, called Ignorant In-uence Diagrams (iids), able to reason on the basis of incomplete information and to improve the accuracy of their decisions as a monotoni-cally increasing function of the available information. iids represent a net gain with respect to the traditional ids, since they are able to explicitly represent lack of information, without loosing any capability of traditional ids when the required information is available. Furthermore , iids provide a new method to assess the reliability of the decisions by replacing the traditional sensitivity analysis with a single analytical measure.

The criterion for con uence using decreasing diagrams is a generalization of several well-known con uence criteria in abstract rewriting, such as the strong con uence lemma. Modeling challenges with influence diagrams: Constructing probability and utility models

In uence diagrams have become a popular tool for representing and solving complex decision-making problems under uncertainty. In this paper, we focus on the task of building probability models from expert knowledge, and also on the challenging and less known task of constructing utility models in in uence diagrams. Our goal is to review the state of the art and list some challenges. Similarly t...

Qualitative Possibilistic In°uence Diagrams

|In°uence diagrams (IDs) are one of the most commonly used graphical decision models for reasoning under uncertainty. The quanti ̄cation of IDs which consists in de ̄ning conditional probabilities for chance nodes and utility functions for value nodes is not always obvious. In fact, decision makers cannot always provide exact numerical values and in some cases, it is more easier for them to speci...
